The answer to this was tremendously powerful brakes with 8 piston fixed callipers at the front, and 6 piston fixed callipers at the rear. Unfortunately even this was not enough bring the nearly 2 tonne beast to a safe stop.
The engineers then realised that there has to be a wing that can act as an air break to help decelerate the car. This meant that when the driver hit the break peddle the rear wing would rise and in combination with the mechanical brakes on the wheels the Bugatti would achieve and even more tremendous stopping power. In fact what would now be known as the air break provides stopping of up to 0.7g alone. This means that the air break alone provides the stopping power of a small hatchback.
